L.E.A.D. Program

The L.E.A.D. Program is NHCC's leadership program offering 3 different tracks for students to develop and hone leadership, life and job-related skills.

  • Involvement Track - This is for anyone interested in getting involved in a recognized student club or organization at North Hennepin Community College. It is also for club members and leaders. This track focuses on how to improve involvement and current clubs and organizations through workshops on how to manage a club budget, how to recruit new members, event planning and more!
  • Core Track - is leadership education based. This track is presented classroom style, where the presenter may use lecture, participation, and other methods to engage the audience. The Core Track is offered six times throughout the academic year. Students interested in attending do not need to have attended a previous session. Each sessions is independent and should add knowledge and build awareness on new leadership topics.
  • Life Skills Track - is a great way to gain knowledge on a variety of career and job related subjects and applicable skills. This track offers tangible and intangible trainings on areas that can be applied directly. The Life Skills Track is offered six times throughout the academic year. Participants can expect to gain knowledge about customer service skills, resume building, and much more!

What it Means to be a L.E.A.D.er at NHCC

Being an NHCC L.E.A.D.er means that you are an engaged part of the NHCC involvement community. L.E.A.D.ers may be asked to assist with the L.E.A.D. program, conduct outreach to increase awareness and assist Student Life with other program-related tasks. This opportunity is a great way to get involved and make an impact with minimal time commitment.

All students who meet the five- session requirement will:

  • Have solid leadership experience to include on a resume
  • Be invited to attend the annual Student Life Awards Banquet
  • Receive a L.E.A.D. certificate
  • Receive an involvement pin that can be worn at commencement to showcase your involvement at the college

How to Become an Official L.E.A.D.er at NHCC

L.E.A.D.ers are an important part of the North Hennepin community. They are the students who exhibit leadership in various capacities and have committed to furthering their leadership through the three tracks offered through the L.E.A.D. Program. Students who attend five L.E.A.D. program workshops from any track are eligible to become a L.E.A.D.er. Work-study students attending to meet the work-study requirement must attend at least two Life Skills workshops, one in the fall and one in the spring.

Questions about the L.E.A.D. Program can be directed to Paulette Bonneur.
